A.B.O.U.T. Behavior #24 : Losing Things

This week the president announced his fourth Director of National Intelligence. Which means he has lost three Directors of National Intelligence since taking office. For a man who told us that he would win so often that we would get tired of it, he has lost a record numbers of cabinet officials during his tenure.

The official diagnostic criteria for ADHD lists “Often loses things necessary for tasks or activities.” as one of the inattentive symptoms. We have to make a pretty big stretch to consider losing the heads of your cabinet departments as fitting this definition. The examples provided to illustrate the official criteria refer to losing material objects (“school materials, pencils, books, tools, wallets, keys, paperwork, eyeglasses, mobile telephones”) not people.

The public record of Mr. Trump’s behavior supports more than a dozen of the eighteen criteria for ADHD, but does not provide sufficient examples of him losing items to verify whether he meets the “losing things” criteria or not.
