Excellent points. I went back and edited the three times I used "addict" in the body of the article (out of 28 times I referred to those with addictions) to say "people with :addictions".

I've kept "Addict" in the title because I feel the need to borrow common usage of the word in order to emphasize the point that I am trying to change not just the way we think about dopamine, but primarily how we talk and think about addiction.

Titles also demand brevity..

Retaining the word addict in the title will probably not sit well with everybody.
