Good points.

My understanding is that there is ongoing disagreement about our early ancestors. Our dentition suggests we were omnivores, rather than carnivores, so a substantial amount of carbohydrates probably entered our diet through roots, greens, nuts and fruits.

But our modern diets clearly are skewed in an unhealthy direction, with too many carbs, regardless of what our ancestors ate.
