Hoka's work for me because they are both cushiony and supportive - but not for everyone. And there are certainly podiatrists out there, and runners, like McDougall who think that over-cushiony shoes are the source of many problems.

I can't make any medical recommendations, but if you can try out the shoes and you hurt with even a few steps of running, then I would recommend listening to your body (knees).
