I appreciate you sharing your perspective, but will respectfully push back on some of your assertions.

Claiming that the root of all evil is dysfunctional childhood is somewhat simplistic and ignores decades of research that indicate that biological forces, from genetics, to lead poisoning, to alcohol exposure in utero can significantly influence who ends up with a mental health condition.

I think that almost anyone in distress will benefit from therapy, but I've also seen severely traumatized individuals, in effective therapies, obtain substantial relief from the addition of medications. And many of them actually do credit the medications as being life saving.

The majority of mental health professionals that I have worked with are hardworking, caring individuals, and I know many who have left more lucrative careers in finance and tech to treat people with mental health conditions.
