I appreciate your thoughtfulness. I don’t see my approach as being one of either/or. We need support for diversity and encouragement of all humans, and we also need to feel safe and that our contributions to society are being accepted rather than discarded and destroyed. Cities are social constructs and need to work well on lots of levels for people to lead fulfilling lives.

Also, as I mentioned, family reasons are the primary motivation for my leaving the city. The violence and destruction that intrudes into daily life just made the decision somewhat easier. And since I am continuing to work with a number of patients, including many who have been homeless or are currently concerned with the risk of being homeless, I think my phone call with the universe is ongoing and mutually rewarding.
