I guess I think that we should pay attention to intuition, but not necessarily trust it, particularly for medical decisions. For centuries the notion that some people were witches made intuitive sense as an explanation for "evil" events happening . The cultural treatments often involved burnings and drownings and other harsh penalties.

Intuition can point us in interesting directions to investigate, but science can confirm whether or not those are useful directions for helping individuals.
