I really appreciate your comments. Since I tend to explore topics at a great length than the average Medium article, I had to trim some of the angles that would be good to develope further.

I'm glad that you brought up the fundamental question of whether it is the individual or the society that is "sick". The word "inappropriate" blurs direct consideration of this issue, because it can both mean that an individual's responses don't really fit the current situation, or that they fit but aren't really helpful (given the pathology within society itself).
