I'm pretty sure that in my case that both back pain and numbness are directly due to herniated discs pressing on different nerve roots. I think that my leg length difference is what tilted my lower spine slightly, putting one hip higher than the other - that's been a chronic condition for 50 years - but I think that's the misalignment that set me up for eventually herniating discs.
