In the San Francisco area, it seemed to be widely over-used for sleep. We know that at doses used for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, a very large minority (at least 20-30%) of patients gain weight and develope metabolic syndrome. There is virtually no data on how high these risks are at lower dosages used for sleep - which is almost criminal negligence since such a high percentage of Seroquel prescribing is for off-label uses.

The best thing I can say is that most people do feel sedated by Seroquel (quetiapine).
