I've been saying for twenty years (well before Trump) that the brilliance of Fox news wasn't in telling lies, or blending "opinion" and "news", but telling the lie that everyone else is a liar. Once you have brainwashed your followers that way, it is very hard to deprogram them - they won't believe anything that NPR, the BBC, the New York Times, or anyone else tells them.
