When I researched it for the article I was amazed at both the paucity of studies and the discrepancies - some claiming it affected 2% of the population and others saying one out of a million (0.0001%). My tendency is to explore nuances, but my editor and I decided that this took away from the central message, in article already substantially longer than the medium average.
