What compounds this tragedy is the NRA message that only guns will keep you safe from people with guns. Yet the higher the rate of gun ownership in your community, the more likely you are to be killed by a gun (either murder or suicide). Gun ownership in Black communities in the US has risen significantly in the last few years, but I seriously doubt that it will keep people safer.
