Thank you for bringing up the statistics about poverty in Texas and arguing eloquently for systems that provide help and health care to those in need. Your article highlighted for me how much the Republican party in Texas has regressed over the last half century. When George HW Bush was a congressman, one of his nicknames was "Rubbers" because he and Barbara proudly supported Planned Parenthood and encouraged using contraceptives. For the modern day GOP, I think even the rubber has hit the road!
