Trump couldn't have succeeded without the huge cheering section / propaganda organization called Fox "News". Trump's attack on the media were pulled directly from that network. I have been telling people for two decades that the brilliance of Faux News wasn't their co-mingling of real news and completely biased lying commentary, it was the lie that all of the other media are lying. Once your followers believe that, it makes it extremely difficult to unbrainwash them - because there are no other sources of information that they trust.

Trump is too undisciplined, too mercurial, too impulsive, too willing to trust that he was the smartest person in the room for the Russians to use him as a plant. While Trump's tenure in office certainly benefitted both the Russians and the Chinese, he was more clearly and directly the product of decades of Fox News and associated right-wing authoritarian propaganda - "everyone else is bad and corrupt and wrong - you can only trust us to take care of this country".
